With former Leeds player and now pundit Noel Whelan claiming that Helder Costa has not done enough to justify his £15m price tag, the club can be delighted with their finances for this deal.

Whelan spoke to Football Insider about the winger, saying that if the 26-year-old was good enough, then he wouldn’t have been sold by his former employers.

The Portuguese man has been on loan at Leeds since the beginning of the season after the player was allowed to leave Molineux. The loan did include an obligation to buy for about £15m, according to Football Insider, which will be paid across four payments.

When asked whether Costa was good value for money, he said: “He has not done enough. I have seen glimpses of what he could be but £15million is too much for him right now. It is up to him if he is a £15million player in the future.”

Is Raul Jimenez good enough for Real Madrid?

Yes definitely

Yes definitely

No he's not

No he's not

Not sure

These words are likely to be music to the ears of Wolves fans, who have managed to make a juicy sum on a player who was deemed surplus to requirements by Nuno Espirito Santo.

With that money they managed to make up nearly all of the fee they needed to sign Daniel Podence, who they bought in the January transfer window for a fee of £16.9m, as per Sky Sports News.

He’s had an okay season for Leeds, having featured in every single league game thus far. He has scored three goals and created three assists in 37 games in the Championship, which is hardly a fantastic return after so many matches, but he has still been important enough to be played in every match by Marcelo Bielsa.

However, given those statistics, for a 26-year-old who is likely to be around the peak of his powers, £15m is a fantastic return on the man they bought from Benfica.

Leeds are still heading towards the Premier League so he could come back to haunt his former club, but even still, they will all be happy with the business that has been done.
