Nuno Espirito Santo has a difficult decision to make at left-back ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ meeting with Watford. Ruben Vinagre and Jonny Otto started at left-back and right-back in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, but one player could miss out on Wednesday in order to incorporate the returning Matt Doherty on the right.

How will Wolverhampton Wanderers fare against Watford?

Win

Draw

Lose

Jonny and Vinagre were both praised by supporters for their performance against Liverpool, but Nuno could back the latter to start. The 20-year-old ripped Trent Alexander-Arnold apart down the left flank, making six successful dribbles, whipping in four crosses and making more touches (77) than any of his teammates.

Vinagre has made 19 appearances in all competitions this season, eight of which have come in the Premier League. The Portuguese u21 international has amassed less than 300 minutes of top-flight football, but his performance against Liverpool may have convinced Nuno to give him the nod.

Wolves are favourites to pick up all three points against Watford, but the Hornets’ upturn in form could give Nuno’s men problems – Nigel Pearson’s side are coming off the back of two wins and a draw from their last three games. Nuno won’t take chances with his squad selection, but does Vinagre deserve another opportunity?
