It was a nightmare miss against Manchester United, one that I fear we will look back to come the end of the season and wonder what if..

If we end up going down by a single point. We will be looking back to the games against Manchester United and wondering what might have been.

While McCarthy’s team selection decision against Manchester United at Old Trafford appeared justified at the time once the win against Burnley was secured. There will always be a nagging feeling in the back of my mind.

But that pales into insignificance when looking back on Sam Vokes’s last gasp miss against Manchester United at Molineux.

The new formation proved difficult for even Manchester United to break down, with Paul Scholes the only United man to find a break through.

That gave us a chance to snatch a point at the end and that chance fell to Vokes, who ballooned the ball high over the bar.

“There was only one man more disappointed than me and the players- that was Sam. But he might be the one that scores the goal that keeps us up.’ McCarthy told the Express & Star.

Sam Vokes added to Wolves Official Website: ‘Obviously I was really disappointed, I don’t think I was a good person to be about on Saturday night – the family were upset and I don’t think my missus was too happy!’

‘I’ve been thinking about it all weekend but am now trying to get it out of my head.’

Vital Wolves Comment: So are we Sam, so are we.
