‘Poor’ – some fans aren’t happy with Wolves midfielder’s performance in 3-2 defeat
Morgan Gibbs-White was given a rare start by Nuno Espirito Santo in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 3-2 defeat to Espanyol, but he didn’t take his opportunity with both hands and underperformed on the night.
The 20-year-old lined up alongside Leander Dendoncker and Joao Moutinho in midfield but lasted just over an hour before Nuno decided he’d seen enough.
His ball retention was poor, he failed to turn over possession, he gave away fouls and didn’t create anything going forward. Gibbs-White was criticised by supporters on social media and may have to be patient for his next appearance.
Gibbs-White not had the best of games so far. Few fancy flicks which haven't come off and some wayward passes. Understandable that there's some ring rust, but needs to do more. #wwfc

First game back and rusty my message would be keep it simple. But its been anything but. Very frustrating to watch. If he was at Molinuex there would be more than a few fans on his back already.

Through to the last 16 is all that matters…..but sloppy, disjointed performance, Gibbs-White and Vinagre v poor….Kilman looked steady apart from Pen, and Podence looks a quality player….I’m going to selectively ignore Neto miss and forget it happenend #wwfc

Against Espanyol, the midfielder played for 63 minutes, had 35 touches, won five aerial duels, completed 71.4% of his 28 passes, had one shot which was off target, picked up a booking, drew one foul, found a teammate with both long balls, made one clearance and gave away two fouls.
How far will Wolves go in the Europa League?
He failed to make a tackle or interception and didn’t create a chance for Wolves’ attackers either. It’s unlikely he’ll be starting against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
