Wolves defender Ryan Bennett has emerged a target for Fulham, a report from PA Sport has claimed.

The Cottagers are searching for a new defender having conceded ten goals in their opening three Premier League games of the season, and are rooted to the foot of the top-flight table.

According to the latest reports, the London club have now set their sights on a loan move for Bennett in an attempt to help address their defensive problems, although it seems there is no guarantee that a deal will happen.

It is thought that neither Bennett nor Wolves are interested in this particular deal, despite the fact that he has yet to feature for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this season, having spent the first half of this calendar year on loan with another Premier League side in the shape of Leicester City.

However, the 30-year-old is apparently training with Wolves’ first-team, and is said to be considering his options before the transfer window closes next week.

As things stand, there are just under 12 months remaining on Bennett’s contract with Wolves, meaning he could leave the club for nothing at the end of this season.

This is certainly an interesting one for Wolves, although you can understand why Bennett could be reluctant about a move to Fulham, given the struggles they look like they could be facing this season.

That being said, with Bennett in a position to leave on a free next summer, you could understand if Wolves were open to a sale this summer to at least receive a fee for him, given it doesn’t look as though he will be a regular feature for them going forward.
