Wolves On The Tweet

“Out of form” – Some fans slam “shocking” £14.4m-rated man who’s “starting to look average”

Wolverhampton Wanderers are in poor form of late, coming off the back of two Premier League defeats against Arsenal (0-2) and Sheffield United (0-1), which has led to a number of players being called out by supporters.

In defence, Romain Saiss, Willy Boly and Jonny Otto have come in for criticism, but they aren’t the only ones. Matt Doherty’s recent form has also been slammed by fans, and many want him to see him replaced ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Everton.

Against United, Doherty played for 90 minutes, had 79 touches, won five aerial duels, completed 68.8% of his 48 passes, whipped in one cross, created two chances, attempted three long balls with 33% accuracy, made two tackles, had two dribbles, made four clearances, gave away one foul and made two interceptions.

The £14.4m-rated man joined Wolverhampton Wanderers from Bohemians in 2010 and has gone on to make 296 appearances in all competitions, scoring 28 goals with 40 assists. Doherty has been a regular this season, making 44 appearances across the board while scoring seven goals with four assists, but he may benefit from a rest.

Nuno has Oskar Buur waiting in the wings or he could use Jonny Otto on the right and bring in Ruben Vinagre to play on the left. Time will tell.
