With Kevin Doyle injured, someone in the Wolves squad will be given a chance to become a hero.

With our Premier League survival at stake and our first choice striker injured for the foreseeable future, someone will be handed the task to make a name for themselves.

But who will it be?

“Doyle proved the best at that lone striker role but both Steven Fletcher and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake have played it and Stephen Ward is a handful when he does, so I`ve still got three strikers.” Wolves gaffer Mick McCarthy told the Express & Star.

Since Doyle was injured on international duty we have been running a front page poll asking who we should select to play in his place.

So far the voting is as follows:

50% of the vote as gone for Steven Fletcher, closely behind on 43% is Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, after the link with the possible signing of Jeremie Aliadiere the ‘Someone else’ option has risen from no votes to 7%, while Stephen Ward remains on 0%.

McCarthy continued: “Doyle`s been terrific but it`s ‘opportunity knocks` and I`ve no doubt the person who gets in will be relishing the prospect.

Vital Wolves Comment: McCarthy’s comments certainly seem to rule out the possibility of reverting back to a 4-4-2 system, which means our style of play shouldn’t alter too much through the loss of Doyle, as long as whoever is picked to play as the lone striker works his socks off like Doyler would!
