Opinion: Nuno must recall out-of-favour Wolves man after failed loan spell

Rafa Mir has struggled for form and playing time during a loan spell at Nottingham Forest and could be recalled by Wolverhampton Wanderers in January. The 22-year-old has amassed a paltry 210 minutes of league football and is yet to score a goal in 11 appearances since making the temporary switch, so what has gone wrong?

Mir immediately found himself behind Lewis Grabban upon his arrival and hasn’t managed to make a telling impact when brought on from the bench. It’s often difficult for players to shine with only cameo appearances, and it’s certainly not helped the Spaniard. And because of his poor form, Mir has received less game time as the season has gone on.

He’s racked up only 75 minutes of Championship football in November and December, has been an unused substitute on four occasions and hasn’t even made the matchday squad in Forest’s last two outings. Mir is clearly surplus to requirements at the City Ground, so Nuno Espirito Santo should bring him back to Molineux.

The 22-year-old is unlikely to get opportunities in the Wolves first-team, but he’ll at least have January to sort out his future.
