One Wolves Man Stands Out For Man Of The Match Surely

With Wolverhampton Wanderers storming to the Championship title in the year of 2017/18, today was what everyone was waiting for – our return to top-flight football and our opening Premier League match of 2018/19 against Everton.

Hosting Everton at the Molineux for the affair, it was an entertaining, albeit mixed display from Wolves and although Ruben Neves and Raul Jimenez gave the fans reason to cheer, a Richarlison brace gave an opportunity to shake some heads.

All in all though I doubt there will be many complaints from our opening game of the year as everyone is adjusting to the step up from the Championship, and our new arrivals are still adjusting to life at the club full stop.

There are worse ways to open a season than with a 2-2 draw but personally, I don’t believe anyone is in with a shout of the first Man of the Match award of the year other than Neves given his overall contribution to the match as he helped himself to the goal and an assist.

For me, he’s clearly the standout option with Jimenez probably coming a distant second but I wouldn’t have said there was a clear runner for third place – others will have their own thoughts, so vote below.

Be interesting to see who comes out where after that 90 minutes.
