Seyi Olofinjana has joined the Nigerian national squads training camp in Faro, Portugal ahead of the Africa Cup Of Nations.

The team will soon be joined by Inter Milan’s Obafemi Martins, skipper Jay Jay Okocha, Joseph Yobo and Kanu, ahead of Nigeria’s first match on January 23rd against World Cup qualifiers Ghana.

Nigeria face a tough challenge in their group of Zimbabwe, Senegal and Ghana. The top two sides go through to the quarter-finals and this should be quite tight, but the benefit of a good tournament for Seyi progressing at least to the semi-final would be immense.

Wolves have rarely seen the best of Olofinjana and a prolongued run in Africa’s premier tournament could kick start his season, or at least, increase his stock.

Several clubs in europe are said to be monitoring Seyi, whose appearances have been restricted to the subs bench of late, although Glenn Hoddle has always publicly given the player his support.

If Hoddle does decide to cash in on any offers, he will be cutting his losses on a player he’s yet to see the best of. But if it was to raise further capital to strengthen his strikeforce few would complain. As long as its spent wisely that is.
