Official: Wolves confirm 16th signing of the season

|

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Justin Hubner from FC Den Bosch – their 16th acquisition of the season and the second Dutch defender captured in 2020 after Nigel Lonwijk. The 16-year-old is highly-rated and will join Wolves’ academy to develop with Steve Davis’ u18s.

Hubner spent two-and-a-half years at Den Bosch after moving from Brabant United in 2017. The left-sided centre-back joins fellow defenders Jed Abbey, Hugo Bueno, Pascat Estrada, Joseph Joseph, Lonwijk, Christian Marques, Lewis Richards and Jack Scott in the u18 squad.

Wolves are hoping he’ll play a part in Saturday’s youth clash with Middlesbrough. Davis’ men are currently rock bottom of the u18 Premier League (North) table with one point from seven games this season. They’ve conceded 25 goals for their troubles, so Hubner has his work cut out.

Hubner, who has also played for Willem II at youth level, is described as one of the most promising defenders out of the Netherlands so big things are expected of him. He’s at the perfect place to develop as Nuno Espirito Santo is willing to give opportunities to young talent – Pedro Neto (19), Morgan Gibbs-White (20), Ruben Vinagre (20).
