Nuno Espirito Santo says it’s ‘clear’ what needs to happen in the next month – report

Wolves have already begun working to ensure that they are correctly equipped for the upcoming transfer window, according to the words of Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Portuguese manager has not left it ambiguous as to whether they are going to be targetting the market in January, and considering where they are in Europe and the Premier League, why would he be?

If you look at Wolves’ squad, it doesn’t take a genius to say that more depth is needed if they are serious about improving for the second half of the campaign, especially considering that when they face Besiktas on Thursday it will be their 30th game of the season (according to Wolves Bite).

The way in which they are forced to play Romain Saiss and Leander Dendoncker at the back is evidence that they are really short in the centre back positions. While there are injuries to Frenchman Willy Boly and Ryan Bennett, the other options for the centre back position is either captain Conor Coady or Max Kilman and Jesus Vallejo, who clearly are not favourable at this moment in time as suggested by their lack of game time.

Speaking about the upcoming window, Nuno said: “It’s not about being busy, it’s about anticipating what you need, and the work is already on the move,” said the head coach.

“The decisions will come when they have to come, but it’s clear that we need to bring in players.”

The report from Wolves Bite suggests that a move for Ruben Diaz is extremely unlikely due to his juicy £60m release clause, and they need more cover in defence as Vallejo simply hasn’t been able to adapt to the Premier League. It is claimed that it is unclear whether his spell will get cut short.

Elsewhere, the need to dip into their central midfield players for defence has made it seem like they need reinforcements in that position. With Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho being so vital to what they do, they need someone who can potentially slip into one of those positions.

Finally, per the claims from the story, another forward could be sourced if Patrick Cutrone leaves the club after not having much of an impact.
