Nuno Believes Wolves “Could Have Done Better” Against Cardiff, But A Win Is A Win

With disappointment for Wolverhampton Wanderers as we are now winless in the last three Premier League games, today’s battle against Cardiff City at the Molineux wasn’t just about the result – it was also about the overall performance with standards slipping based on our own levels.
Whatever was behind our wobble, the players were out to make a point and Diogo Jota gave us the 1-0 advantage 16 minutes into the first half, and Raul Jimenez doubled that lead two minutes later to send us into the break in full control of the game.
We couldn’t build on our advantage in the second period, although Adama Traore, in particular, did have chances to do just that, but it’s another win and another three points and we now turn our attentions to Chelsea and then the FA Cup clash with Manchester United.
Speaking to the BBC following the game, head coach Nuno Espirito Santo said of the tie.
“The first half was very good, but not so good in the second half. Cardiff unbalanced themselves with their direct game and we had superiority and could have done better. A 2-0 scoreline is not a comfortable result ever, especially against Cardiff because they are so tough. I am always afraid something will happen.”
