There wasn’t, of course, any certainty Jason Cummings would sign for Wolves anyway!

But the Hibernian striker, who has been gaining a lot of attention from Wolves (speculation anyway), was one of those being linked with a move to Molineux this summer as we look to improve on our attacking options.

As we’ve covered a new ‘keeper is needed but a potent goalscoring threat is also something Kenny Jackett is in desperate need of securing as if we’re not able to score goals (we struggled with that for the second half of next season) we’ll not win matches!

Cummings helped Hibs to a three-two win over Rangers in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday, despite them not securing promotion they’ll have Europa League football so he’s set to stay at Easter Road.

He’s quoted as telling the Scotsman that being under contract for another year means he expects to stay with Hibs with the lure of European football ‘another good reason’ for the 25-goal man to remain with the Scottish Championship side.

‘I’m contracted for next season and as far as I’m aware I’ll be back in for pre-season at Hibs, that’s all I know. We’re in Europe now and that`s another good reason for me to come back. I think I should be coming back.’

The Scottish U21 international, who also scored 21-goals last season, is another name we can cross off the wanted list then!
