Poor in the first half and lacking any kind of bite in the second half, the official stats read that Wolves mustered just one shot on target throughout the entire 90 minutes against Leeds.

There was little to suggest that we will be battling for an immediate return to the Premier League judging us on this performance.

Thankfully though we’ve only had one game and only a moron would write us off just yet, but it’s clear that there is a lot of hard work that needs to be done to get these boys in the promotion picture.

The man entrusted with that task is new gaffer Ståle Solbakken who believes that much of the side are still suffering from our Premier League relegation hangover (that’s metaphorical so not referring to Johnson individually).

‘The only way you can change it [the mentality] is to win that first game and get that winning feeling.’ Ståle Solbakken told the BBC after the game.

He continued: ‘You can say that you can work hard blah, blah, blah, but you have to win that first game. Today was a fair result, there were not many chances in the game. Leeds protected their penalty area well when they went in front. I have no complaints.

‘We are trying to find a winning formula. The team lost many games last season, maybe one win in 26 or 27. But now we have two home games and maybe we can get it then.’

Those two games are against Barnsley tomorrow and Derby on Saturday.

If we need to find that winning mentality quickly then we should be looking for those first three points at Molineux and should certainly end the week undefeated.
