News: Wolves monitoring classy Leeds man valued at £20m

|

According to a report in the Athletic Wolves are just one of five Premier League clubs who are monitoring the progress of Leeds’ Ben White – the 22-year-old defender who has been outstanding this year.

Brought in as a replacement for Pontus Jansson, the man on loan from Brighton has become the best defender in the league and is a crucial part of the Championship’s tightest defence.

White has played every minute of every game this year and is impressing both pundits and scouts with his superb reading of the game and ability to carry the ball out from the back.

This can be seen in the number of interceptions he makes a game rather than the number of tackles.

White averages 2.7 interceptions per game while he only makes 1.9 tackles.

His reading of the game means that he very rarely has to make a tackle.

Marcelo Bielsa also trusts him to bring the ball out from the back, and that was evident with his assist against Luton Town last week.

White carried the ball up the field and then played Patrick Bamford in with the outside of his boot, and Bamford lashed the ball home.

Brighton now want £20m for the defender, and if we were to go after him, we would face some stiff competition.

However, with the project, we are building, we could convince White to join us over some of the so-called bigger clubs.

Would you want us to sign White?

Yes, he is one of the Championship's best players

No, he is not proven at a higher level

For one, he would be guaranteed first-team football, and with the project, we are building, he could achieve everything he could ever want to with us at Molineux.
