Wolverhampton Wanderers have handed Leigh Griffiths a 12-month extension to remain at Molineux.

The 22-year-old striker has impressed many since his move to Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League.

He’s won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year this season and has scored 28 goals in 42 appearances this season and still has two games to play including the Scottish FA Cup final against Celtic.

Griffiths was out-of-contract at Molinuex at the end of the season, however Wolves have had a one year option on the forward and former boss Dean Saunders had previously implied that he intended to take it.

Despite his sacking Griffiths contract was duly extended for a further 12-months alongside Danny Batth, George Elokobi, Dave Edwards and Aaron McCarey.

“Whilst we continue our search for a new Head Coach, one-year options on several players have been activated. This is normal practice in this situation.’ Wolves head of football development and recruitment Kevin Thelwell told Wolves Official Website.
