Wolves do not intend to wait around after the sacking of Mick McCarthy.

Wolves have to ensure that we get the right man in, we have heard countless times that we are not a hiring and firing club so the appointment has to be right, we can’t get it wrong, not with our Premier League status at stake.

But we have to also work quickly as the period that we are left in limbo could also seriously harm our survival chances.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has stated that he ideally would like a new man in the hot seat before the game against Newcastle, but would not be drawn on who could be in contention for the post.

The transition from Mick McCarthy to the new gaffer needs to be as smooth as possible, yes, we want to gain from the possibly uplift in moral a change in manager often brings clubs and with players fighting for their positions in the hopes of impressing a new man in charge, this can give us a boost.

But also we need to limit the disruption in a squad that was built by Mick McCarthy.

So it will be crucial what style of manager we go for.

“We are not ruling out any option at this time.’ Jez told the Express & Star.

He continued: “It`s got to be someone who fits with this football club. That is the pre-requisite of the job.

“I know it`s obvious but we are what we are and Wolves needs someone to immerse themselves in the DNA and they need to embrace all that in a way to help us win as many games as we can to stay in the Premier League, then to move on in a positive way.

“However the most important thing is we need a manager who can help us improve our on-field results because our No.1 objective is to win games.”
