While it isn’t particularly a surprise, it’s still sad news to pass on.

Wolves shotstopper Matt Murray has announced his retirement from professional football at the young age of just 29.

With 5 caps for England Under-21 the game has lost a true talent who had the potential to rise to the very top of the game, if it wasn’t for a variety of injuries which halted and eventually ended his career.

Murray made 108 appearances during his career, the majority for Wolves with a handful of a appearances for Kingstonian, Tranmere and Hereford during short loan spells.
