Many Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have reacted on Twitter after their supporters are being urged to protest against VAR.
Wolves Fans’ Parliament are intent on making a protest against the technology and are suggesting that fans attending the match should turn their backs on the pitch every single time a VAR review is taking place, according to reports in the Express and Star.
So far this season, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have seen four of their goals ruled out, including in their last match against Leicester City for a narrow offside call.
With 26 games gone, only fellow Champions League chasers Sheffield United have had more goals chalked off with five.
It is said that Wolves Fans’ Parliament are now sourcing other supporter groups to try and replicate this action against VAR, in the hope that this could become a nationwide protest.
It seems they have a long way to go, as not all of their fans are totally convinced.
Would you turn your back during VAR?
Yes, great idea
Use banners instead
No, just let it happen
Joe Edwards at the Express and Star tweeted about the situation, to which many fans replied with their personal opinions.
Amongst the replies, one fan described it as “tinpot”, while others suggested that banners might be a more appropriate method.
Here are some more replies below…
What’s the point? VAR is a good concept but poorly executed by the Premier League. Needs to be adapted to benefit the attackers instead of the defenders and it’s so easy to do so

The most tin pot pathetic thing ever. Makes up look like mugs. Are they going to do this for every game from now to eternity? VAR is going nowhere

Banners will make a better impact imo

Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water in my opinion. The speed, decision making, process and laws needs to be changed (in particular off sides) but don’t give up on it. Got to be a happy medium somewhere. Although I dont have faith in the people running the game to find it

I’m afraid large banners that the TV picks up are far better – they barely communicate what is happening with VAR anyway, so there’s nothing to turn our backs on.

Also getting some banners made hopefully and put up 🙂

Wolves are back in action tomorrow when they will be facing Espanyol in the final 32 of the Europa League.
While this competition did not feature VAR for the group stages, it has been confirmed by UEFA that it will be used from now on in the rest of the tournament.
