‘Monstrous club’, ‘What a season’ – Jubilant Wolves fans share joy

Wolves have got one foot in the last 16 of the Europa League. Just imagine hearing that three years ago.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have just come off the back of a 4-0 drubbing against La Liga side Espanyol, and to not much surprise, the Wolves fans are lapping it up on Twitter.

Having to wait nearly 40 years for their European return, the club genuinely seems as if they have a chance of going pretty far. With the biggest teams left in the competition being the likes of Inter Milan, Manchester United, Arsenal, Sevilla and Roma, you have to say that they don’t seem too far off that standard, leaving them with a genuine shot.

Within the match, everything seemed to go to plan. Diogo Jota – who managed to take the match ball home with him tonight – got the club off to a flying start after he put them ahead in the 15th minute. The first in what was a well-taken hat-trick.

The second goal was inspirational. We all now Ruben Neves has a screamer in him, but this one was up with his best. The Portuguese youngster rocketed home a volley from outside the box after a magnificent bit of skill with his chest to sit himself up.

With a 4-0 lead, this is surely an unassailable deficit and it should – barring a mini-miracle – see the club into the last 16.

Also, with Norwich coming up this weekend, it should help them keep their focus on the league by knowing that they are already pretty much through this tie, though Nuno would never admit that.
