A report on BBC Humberside claims that Wolves top transfer target Billy Sharp is due in Wolverhampton on Tuesday, after first holding talks with Sheffield Wednesday today.

The news comes as many fans are starting to question club statements that the hold up in Steve Morgan’s takeover are not having an adverse effect on transfer activity.

Wednesday are the latest in a long line of clubs chasing the striker, valued at £2m by Scunthorpe

If Wolves match that valuation, the draw of renewing his deadly partnership with Andy Keogh may be enough to tip the balance in Wolves favour ahead of their divisional rivals, and out another feather in the cap of CEO Jez Moxey and manager Mick McCarthy.

The claims of Radio Humberside would seem to be at odds with the official Scunthorpe line offered by Brian Laws who has stated that he isn’t aware of any meetings. The closest they are ready to concede is that a Norwich City bid of £2m has been made, with no mention of the Blades at all.

Sharp’s destination now seems a matter of personal choice for for any club matching Scunthorpes valuation. Whether Wolves match that criteria is the question on everybody’s lips
