According to A Bola via Sport Witness, Rodrigo Fernandes is ‘no longer training’ with Sporting and could ‘soon leave’ the Primeira Liga club. Wolverhampton Wanderers have been heavily linked with the 19-year-old, and A Bola believe there’s a ‘good possibility’ he’ll be on his way to England.

Fernandes rose through the youth ranks to the fringes of the Sporting first-team in 2019 and has gone on to make four appearances in all competitions. He’s featured 24 times for the U23s, scoring one goal. Fernandes has also represented Portugal at U16 (10 games), U17 (15 games, one goal), U18 (eight games), U19 (23 games, one goal) level, so he looks to have a bright future.

The 19-year-old hasn’t been able to convince Sporting, however. A Bola say he’s not training with the playing squad and is currently staying fit with a personal trainer. It’s unknown whether a loan deal or permanent move is on the cards for Fernandes, but he has been previously linked with a €12m move.

Jorge Mendes represents the midfielder, so Wolves could be in pole position to bring him to Molineux. Nuno has Leander Dendoncker, Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Bruno Jordao and Romain Saiss at his disposal, but Wolves have made it a point to sign young talent in recent transfer windows.
