After two weeks on trial at Molineux James McFadden has now left Wolves to consider his options.
We have offered him a deal, but apparently face competition from other Premier League clubs, with one reportedly Sunderland.
‘We made him an offer, but I understand he has got a few offers.’ our Mick told the Express & Star.
The Scotland international had been heavily linked with a move to Molineux for weeks, but things took a positive turn for the 28-year-old when he was invited to join the squad for training.
He has been a free agent since being released from Birmingham after suffering damaged cruciate knee ligaments 13 months ago and question marks remain over this fitness, but he has impressed over his trial spell and McCarthy would like to keep him.
But now we have to wait while he decides which club to join.
Vital Wolves Comment: I’ve always thought that he’s probably a gamble worth taking if the contract is written correctly.
Every signing of course is a gamble, but someone with an injury record is always deemed as a bigger risk, so get something written in there that protects the club and things should be fine.
Of course now that he has other options Sunderland or whoever might offer him better personal terms, but hopefully considering we’ve given him a break by training with us that we should be in a good position.
