Wolverhampton Wanderers have their first crisis of the season with head coach Kenny Jackett fire fighting over recent reports linking Kevin McDonald to Fulham.

When the first reports linking McDonald with a move to Fulham came around it wasn’t clear why Championship rivals Fulham appeared confident that they could get Wolves to sell Kevin McDonald.

Our friends over at Vital Fulham were even told by Wolves supporters that there was no way that the player would leave Wolves and our magnificent stadium and state of the art training facility ‘to come to an antiquated old club playing in a rubbish stadium.’

Bit harsh perhaps, but that was the level of confusion at the time.

The rumour mill suggested that an initial bid of £1.25million from Fulham had been rejected by Wolves, the Express & Star even reported that the the first bid would be dismissed ‘out of hand’ which should have ended the matter.

But it was soon clear that Fulham were preparing a second bid, Vital Fulham believed that bid was imminent and we said that Fulham must feel that an agreement could be reached, otherwise why would they waste their time?

That second bid came and went as Wolves also rejected it, which prompted McDonald to speak to Sky Sports and reveal that he is currently unhappy with his current situation.

‘Wolves offered me a contract which didn`t really indicate to me they wanted to keep me.’ he told Sky Sports.

He added: ‘It wasn`t like they were pushing to keep me, fighting to keep me, that`s the way it felt. That`s gone now. We said we wouldn`t be signing that contract.’

Speaking about Fulham’s interest he said: ‘I never really got told by the club, which is not the best. I thought someone from the club would come and say something to me.’

So now we have reviewed the situation for those who might have been on holiday over the past few days where do we stand now?

It’s often said that we refuse to comment on speculation in the media, but as McDonald has gone to the media it would seem Kenny Jackett feels he has too as well.

“I have seen the comments from Kevin and he is unhappy about the contract offer he has received,” Jackett told Wolves Official Website.

He continued: “Sometimes situations can`t be resolved immediately and we know exactly where it is.’ he said before adding “The contract situation is in the background and it is about him working towards full fitness which is the priority.

“I wouldn`t say I`m necessarily disappointed – it is how Kevin feels and is his opinion.’
