It would appear that Wolves gaffer Mick McCarthy’s hands-off warning to Liverpool has fallen on deaf ears with Aston Villa now reportedly interested in Jarvis.

The Mirror newspaper suggest that unpopular Villa boss Gerard Houllier is set to make a £8 million bid to Wolves in the summer to take Matt Jarvis to Villa Park to replace Ashley Young, who apparently wants to leave the club.

Ashley Young looks set for a move to either Liverpool or Manchester United and Houllier believes Jarvis is the perfect replacement, despite McCarthy making it perfectly clear only a day ago that he is not for sale, even if we were to be relegated this season.

‘There is no reason at all why we have to sell anybody.’ McCarthy told the Birmingham Mail this week.

He added: ‘If we did it would be after discussions between Steve Morgan and Jez Moxey and myself.

‘But we don`t want to sell and there`s no reason why we should under any circumstances.’

Vital Wolves Comment: £8million would be a little under valuation for my liking, if we were to sell and this is obviously hypothetically as I see no reason not too as we will not going down, then £10million should surely be a more realistic figure?
