The big talking point in football this week has been Carlos Tevez refusal to play for Manchester City and his subsequent suspension.

One indication of when a story has truly gone global is when Wolves gaffer Mick McCarthy gives his opinion on the matter.

McCarthy might be well known for giving out his opinion freely on matters, but usually he does reserve them for personal or Wolves matters.

But on this occasion he was happy to give his view as he believes its an indication of how football is going on a wider scale.

‘Any other time, I wouldn’t talk about anybody else’s player, I’d say it is their problem.

‘But I think it is a football problem if it is allowed to fester and, to happen again, it would be dreadful.’ he told Sky Sports.

Tevez has been suspended by the club for a maximum of two weeks, our Mick isn’t sure about what the punishment should be, although he would probably have thought of taking a more unorthodox approach!

‘The suspension is the right course of action. It’s a difficult one for the people at Manchester City handling it because you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

‘Everyone has got an opinion on it. It is a very visible high profile thing. What he did was completely wrong. I might have left him on the tarmac (in Germany) actually.
