Not surprisingly Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich Town won the chase for Wolves favourite Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
Championship promotion hopefuls Leicester City and Burnley had previously been linked with the striker, but Ipswich become the first club to confirm their interest and immediately become favourites to sign him.
The 27-year-old has been out-of-contract since the end of last season, but had continued to work through a rehabilitation programme following his broken leg at the end of last season.
Despite his clear goalscoring record, Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett had no interest in giving SEB are second chance at Molineux.
But former boss Mick McCarthy had no troubles in going back to an old favourite and Ebanks-Blake signed a deal with Ipswich until the end of the season.
‘It’s been on cards for a while now and I’m just pleased we’ve managed to get everything done and dusted,’ SEB told Ipswich Town’s website.
He continued: ‘I’ve worked with the gaffer (McCarthy) and TC (Terry Connor) before and we’ve had a lot of success in the past.
‘They played a big part in me wanting to come here.’
