After the defeat to Manchester United, Wolves attentions now turn to two crucial games at Molineux.

Wolves stand two points above the relegation zone following the defeat to Manchester United.

But the Premier League doesn’t offer any respite and the next couple of games could prove crucial to our season.

A quick flick over to the Vital Wolves forum showed that most of us were happy to write off the Manchester United game.

But there were clear indications that the Stoke and Norwich fixtures were crucial to our points tally.

Mick McCarthy of course couldn’t admit the same thing ahead of the trip to Old Trafford and instead said what any logical manager would say, that we hope to cause an upset etc.

But his comments post game were much more in line with many Wolves fans.

“Now we`ve got Stoke and Norwich at home which we know are two big games and probably have more significance to our season than Saturday.” McCarthy told the Express & Star.

The Manchester United game was nothing more than a distraction. It’s just a sad indication of the modern top flight, that instead of enjoying a trip to the champions instead you come back wondering, ‘perhaps we should have rested a few’, especially with the hindsight of knowing David Edwards and Steven Fletcher both picked up knocks in the game.

Edwards suffered a groin injury, while Fletcher had a tight calf.

There is no news yet on the extent of their injuries.

Vital Wolves Comment: This week, Mick McCarthy suggested that if someone asked the Wolves fans who still backed him as gaffer, then he would get a positive response from about 80% of the fan base.

So we thought we would put that theory to the test and have made it our front page poll.

Currently our Mick is virtually spot on with 82% backing him, 15% not in favour of him remaining as manager and 3% sitting on the fence.
