Wolves gaffer Mick McCarthy has played down suggestions that he has had his nose put out of joint (well you know what I mean), by West Ham’s team selection against Arsenal.

The media have played up Zola’s decision to leave out three of their most influential players against Arsenal, believing that they will all step back into the side against Wolves.

Which is probably the case and isn’t an issue, but of course it gives the media a chance to bring up McCarthy’s team selection against Manchester United AGAIN.

‘Good luck to them. They probably looked at Arsenal as a tough one and thought their best chance of getting points was against us.’ McCarthy told the Daily Mail.

Scott Parker, Mark Noble and Carlton Cole were the players dropped and McCarthy added: ‘I have no doubt those three will play against us. I looked at Match of the Day with mild amusement when I saw West Ham’s team. But I don’t have a problem with it. You do what’s best for your club.’

Vital Wolves Comment: West Ham are the bookies favourites for this one.

Decimal odds from Betfair:

West Ham Win: 1.88

Draw: 3.65

Wolves Win: 5.00
