It was a case of a too little too late for Wolves as we battled back in vein against Manchester City.

We dominated the opening period of the game and took the lead through Nenad Milija?, we should have gone on to add to that lead and that’s probably what cost us in the end as Manchester City answered with four from Kolo Toure, Carlos Tevez (twice) and Yaya Toure.

Kevin Doyle from the penalty spot and Ronald Zubar made it nervy few minutes for City, but in the end they took the three points to go top of the Premier League.

‘I think we deserved a point from the game,’ McCarthy told Wolves Official Website.

He continued: ‘We’re sat in there disappointed to have come away with nothing.

‘I know at 4-1 when the game had opened up everyone expected it to be all over but we silenced a few in the crowd by bringing it back to 4-3.

‘I was getting a load of grief from behind me when it was 4-1 but I thought everyone had left when it got back to 4-3.

Vital Wolves Comment: Another one of those games that the pundits praise us for but ultimately we gained nothing.

If there was ever such a thing as a confidence boosting defeat, you can add this one to the list.
