Stephen Hunt has finally joined Wolves from Hull and boss McCarthy is happy to have finally secured his long term target.

Back in January depending on what papers you read, we had around 5 bids rejected with the biggest offer around £7million.

6 months later, with Hull relegated and facing a tough time ahead financially, Hunt is now here for a bargain £3million.

“With his ability and experience at Premier League level he`s going to prove a real asset to the club.’ McCarthy told the Express & Star.

He added: “It`s a sign of how much we think of him that we`ve done the deal even though he won`t be fit for the start of the season.’

Hunt has had an operation on his foot which will see him out until around October.

“But he`ll be fit in time to feature for the majority of the season, and will turn out to be a very important player.’
