Wolves gaffer Mick McCarthy has defended his summer signings after a poor start to the season has put his squad under the microscope.

McCarthy spent around £20million on new signings after winning the Championship last season.

Players such as Ronald Zubar and Nenad Milijas brought hope that some Premier League quality had been brought into the side.

But Kevin Doyle is the only signing to have made much of an impact this season, while the squad continues to lack the experience that fans were crying out for all summer long.

“I was really delighted with what we brought in and it`s for us not to rue what we might, or could, or should have done, but make it work with what we`ve got.’ McCarthy told the Express & Star.

“That`s the important thing. And I`m not going to be bemoaning what I could or couldn`t do.

“It`s up to us – the players and the staff – to make it happen.’

Vital Wolves Comment: Since the defeat to Birmingham, Vital Wolves have been asking the question, should we continue to back Mick McCarthy as manager?
