Michael Kightly’s impact at Wolves since joining the club for a paltry £25,000 has been immense.

Wolves beat off a late challenge from Manchester United to secure the 21 year olds services, and as every match passes, it is becoming abuntantly clear why the Old Trafford scouts rated him so highly.

With a gentlemans agreement already in place, and the player opting for a lead role at Molineux, ahead of a bit part at Old Trafford, Kightly joined McCarthy’s golden revolution and has never looked back.

But raw talent alone isn’t enough to make it at this level. And Kightly is the first to acknowledge that Mick McCarthy has played a major role in his development since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers.

I can’t really take in what’s happened to me since I came here, but the most obvious thing to me is how much is down to Mick McCarthy,’ said Kightly following his match winning performance on Saturday.

‘In my book he’s the best in this league.’

You wont find many Wolves fans disagreeing.
