Some Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been reacting on social media after Nuno Espirito Santo issued an update on Adama Traore’s shoulder problem ahead of Sunday’s clash with Everton.
Traore dislocated his left shoulder for the fourth time this season after just 90 seconds on Wednesday night as Wolves went on to lose 1-0 to Sheffield United, and now faces waiting until the end of the season to discover whether he needs surgery to address the issue, per Sky Sports.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo had opted to use the pause in play brought about by the coronavirus pandemic to issue Traore with a specialised fitness programme in the hope of avoiding surgery, but now concedes it may be necessary come the end of the season.
“I don’t know [if Traore will need surgery]”, Espirito Santo said, via quotes by Sky Sports. “During this period when we didn’t compete, Adama was able to do a special programme for his shoulder.
“What happened in the [Sheffield United] game was a setback, but he is able to deal with the pain, he is able to deal with the competition side of the game. You can see that he is almost normal.”
Espirito Santo is yet to decide whether or not Traore’s latest dislocation will rule the 24-year-old out of Sunday’s meeting with Everton, which would mark the Spaniard’s 34th appearance of the Premier League season.
Fans have reacted to Sky Sports’ report of the potential for surgery with a mixed array of responses, with some questioning why the West Midlands outfit opted against surgery during lockdown in favour of a specialised training programme.
Should have had it beginning of lockdown maybe ?

That was exactly what I thought he would have done. Was really surprised when it was put out again the other night 🧡🖤🧡🖤

Why didn’t he get it done during lockdown, it was obvious we wasn’t getting back to play football again for weeks etc, sorry but I think wolves made big mistake. I’m sure wolves could have had it done in private hospital etc.

i’m no doc but i would have thought it was fairly obvious to say he does. The only reason i could think that he didn’t have it done during the lockdown would be that maybe this type of surgery wasn’t been done due to the covid-19

Some Wolves supporters have also reacted to Sky Sports’ report by focusing on what the potential for surgery would mean on next season, with the start date as yet unknown.
What does end of season mean? Last league match end of July, Europa League in August. Next season starts end of August. Next break in fixtures is May 2021

A side-effect of any surgery in the eyes of one supporter would be the impact it could carry over any potential transfer, with Traore a rumoured target for Manchester City, Juventus and FC Barcelona.
Clever from Wolves. Don’t get it fixed so that he fails any medical at a potential new club.
