Will Norris was an unused substitute for the sixth consecutive game as Ipswich Town suffered a 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday. The 26-year-old was dropped by Paul Lambert last month after making multiple errors between the sticks and has been forced to watch on as Tomas Holy starts ahead of him.

Norris joined Ipswich on a season-long loan in July and has gone on to make 19 appearances in all competitions, conceding 24 goals and keeping five clean sheets. The out-of-form goalkeeper’s last outing came in Ipswich’s 4-1 defeat to Peterborough United. He’s sat in the bench in the six league games that followed.

Results haven’t improved without Norris in goal, however, with the Tractor Boys picking up only four points from a possible 18. Lambert had little choice but to make a change as the Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee couldn’t go one game without making a costly error, but Ipswich are still leaking goals.

Town are currently ninth in League One with 52 points from 35 games and are freefalling down the table – they were second after Boxing Day. Norris has only made eight appearances in his three years at Wolves, so it’s hard to see him having a long-term future. He still has one year remaining on his deal, however, so he needs to put himself in the shop window.

Unfortunately, the 26-year-old hasn’t had the most convincing spell at Portman Road and may struggle to attract interest over the summer.
