One of the smaller benefits for dropping back down to the Football League would be regular Saturday 3pm kick off times.
You know where you stand in the Football League, the majority of games will kick off on a Saturday at the traditional British time of 3pm.
When you’re in the Premier League you have no idea what time you’re kicking off with late changes a regular occurrence, it could be 12pm on a Saturday, 3pm or 5.30pm it could be on a Sunday either early afternoon or evening, it could be a Monday or a Tuesday or a Wednesday and when we play a team in the UEFA Europa League it could even be a Thursday.
Call me old fashioned but with Wolverhampton Wanderers back in the Championship regular kick off times will be a plus for me, well that and hopefully winning more often than losing.
But Sky Sports have selected our season opener against Leeds United for television coverage which means we will all have to wait a little longer to get back into the routine.
We will still be kicking off on opening day (August 18th), we just get under way a little earlier at 12.45pm.
But we haven’t been selected again by Sky Sports during this current batch of TV games, so regular service will continue the following week with Ståle Solbakken’s first game at Molineux against Barnsley on Tuesday August 21, quickly followed by Derby County on Saturday August 25 at THREE O’CLOCK!
