Earlier today, Wolves Boss Glenn Hoddle spoke to reporters and answered questions on recent transfer speculation. An old master at saying little whilst appearing to say much, Hoddle was clear on one thing. Izale Mcleod is far from the top of his list of transfer targets. One targets firmly at the front of his mind though is Tomasz Frankowski.

‘(Frankowski is) one of a number of people we have been keeping tabs on. Four are from abroad and another three or four are from Britain. We’ve been looking at them over the last six or seven weeks but there’s nothing to report. There’s no news on anybody at the moment.’ he told the clubs official site

When asked about MK Dons striker Mcleod he said that he had ‘drawn a line under the bid’.

One surprise was Hoddle’s reaction to news he was monitoring young Scot wing back Mark Wilson. Wilson has been linked with the club following remarks by Dundee United Chairman Eddie Thompson in the scottish press. Hoddle said:

‘When we played a pre-season tournament in Dundee I asked to be kept informed about Wilson.’I’m surprised this has come out now because Gordon (Chisholm, United manager) called me four or five weeks ago about the lad. I said I would call him back if I wanted to act on it but I think maybe they are using it as a bargaining tool.’

Someone using Wolves to start a dutch auction? The shock will be the transfer window where that doesn?t happen. Not the umpteenth one when it does.
