Michael Kightly needs to have an operation to help fix his injured ankle.

The Wolves winger picked up the injury after just half an hour of action against Birmingham.

“Michael went to see the specialist today – he`s had a scan and it looks like he needs an operation. It looks like he will be out for six to eight weeks.’ McCarthy told the Express & Star.

Vital Wolves Comment: It’s a real blow to lose Michael Kightly over the Christmas period.

While it is completely unrelated to his other injury troubles, it still remains frustrating that such a quality player has been forced to sit out so much action.
