Mick McCarthy is hoping to give Michael Kightly a run of games in the Premier League to really prove he is Mick’s greatest signing at Wolves.
The 26-year-old has really suffered with injuries in recent years and has barely featured for the side since scoring 8 goals to help us get into the Premier League.
But he has always remained a favourite and McCarthy has always dubbed him as his best ever signing, after purchasing him from non-league Grays in 2006 for just £25,000.
“What he needs now is seven, eight, nine, 10 games in the Premier League on the bounce, That then will tell us where he is.’ McCarthy told the Express & Star.
He added: “Physically, he`s just like brand new. He`s completed the last two Premier League games without any problems at all. He`s been terrific.”
McCarthy believes the loan spell at Watford has really helped Kites come back, focussed, fitter and better than ever.
He concluded: “Players get their ‘je ne sais quoi` or spirit or their love of the game or the love of everyone else or the happiness, or whatever it is that they get back and the world is a much rosier, sunnier place.”
