Michael Kightly will be heading for Sweden in 10 days time to have a second operation on his knee.
The 24-year-old last played over a year ago when he played half an hour against Birmingham in November 2009.
Since then it has been set back after set back until his most recent operation was deemed a success and even Mick McCarthy is considering naming him in his 25-man squad in January.
“I think it`s something like six weeks since he had the first operation on his one knee,”
‘I might be able to name him in my 25-man squad come the end of January, I`ve no idea. It would be lovely boost to have him back.’ McCarthy told the Express & Star.
Now Kights is looking ahead to having another operation on his other knee to relieve inflammation of his patella tendons.
Mick continued: “The knee he`s had done is great so he`s having the other one done. He`s having it done on December 12. And if it feels as good as this one then that would be great.”
