Earlier this morning, Wolverhampton Wanderers became very strongly linked with AC Milan defensive midfielder Franck Kessie.

It was suggested that we had struck a 25million Euro + 3million in add-ons deal for the 22-year-old and it was expected that a deal would fly through ahead of today’s 5pm deadline window closing. The sticking point was personal terms, as Alfredo Pedulla suggested we were only offering 2.5million Euros a year and the player was holding out for 4million Euros (which is ridiculous given his age, regardless of how highly rated he may be).

It sounded initially like it was a simple negotiation game, but a follow up report on the Ivorian from Daniele Longo suggested that the issue wasn’t wages at all, and simply that the player wasn’t yet reading to leave Milan so he would turn down our advances.

Money talks in football as we know, and if we really want him I’m pretty sure they’ll soon be an announcement.
