On the Wolves Official Website a flood of new job vacancies have appeared.
Every time I read one I’m half expecting to read first team manager, but instead it’s Press Office Intern, Outbound Sales Exec, Cleaner and Assistant Groundsman. (If you happen to be interested in any of these roles click over to the Wolves Official Website for a full job description and application form).
It’s not that I do not like Ståle Solbakken, personally I don’t think he’s had anywhere near enough time to put his stamp on things.
But the recent poor run of results coupled with the boos and discontent around Molineux wouldn’t leave me surprised if there was a knee-jerk reaction to things going wrong.
Without a win in five Championship games, losing the last three away from home, dropping from third in the table to thirteenth in just five games.
It’s a dramatic loss of form following five wins in six games during September.
The expectation levels were built up following that decent run of form and despite Solbakken’s attempts to play it down and keep things on the down low as he continued to re-build the team following relegation, bang, everyone all of a sudden appeared to think we would bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt and walk our way to promotion.
WOW described the defeat to Huddersfield as a ‘rare away defeat’, just another example of building up expectation levels unnecessarily.
We should have known better, this is Wolverhampton Wanderers and patience is required.
But it isn’t all doom and gloom either, there is a happy medium in-between the two extremes.
We are still only three points off the play-offs in the first week of November in this ever-so-tight league. A couple of back-to-back wins and we will be right back in the mix again.
This change will take time, patience is required. But it would help if a bit of progress was visible just to calm the nerves a little.
