Morgan Gibbs-White is the Wolverhampton Wanderers flavour of the week following his cameo appearance in the game against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Coming on for Joao Moutinho in the game as we trailed by three clear goals, his impact in midfield was massive as we turned the game more in our favour and plenty feel we were unlucky to come out of it without at least a point to show for our fight back efforts.

Having taken plenty of praise from the fans in the aftermath of the game, 18-year-old Gibbs-White was also a huge topic for talk amongst football pundits with plenty raving about his potential in the coming years.

Former Republic of Ireland international striker Tony Cascarino even went as far as comparing him with former Arsenal and England star Jack Wilshere.

Writing in the Times Cascarino described him as being a ‘special talent’.

“Morgan Gibbs-White at Wolves looked a special talent against Tottenham. There were two moments that stood out — the pass to Helder Costa was like something from Kevin De Bruyne, and it is very rare to see an 18-year-old Englishman playing in central midfield and picking a pass like that. This boy has a burst of pace that Jack Wilshere never had, so the opponent cannot recover. There is no mature English player like this, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the closest, so you just hope Gibbs-White develops because he is some prospect.”

Wilshere is a talent but incredibly over-hyped by the London media, I prefer the De Bruyne comment purely from a consistency point of view.

We’d take that wouldn’t we.
