The twists and turns of this Championship relegation dog-fight, are quite simply remarkable.
The highs following the win over Bristol City, a result which was a massive six-pointer against a side that at that point in time could have leapfrogged us at the foot of the table.
Followed by the lows of losing to Huddersfield, a result which was a massive six-pointer against a side that at that point in time did leapfrog us and put us back in the relegation zone.
Then to last night, defeat for Bristol City against Birmingham sees them relegated to League One.
Blackburn beating Huddersfield sees them climb to 19th and Huddersfield drop back into the bottom three, Barnsley’s point at Derby leaves them 23rd. Peterborough’s draw with Brighton leaves them 20th.
While most importantly our victory over Hull moves us out of the bottom three to 21st.
It might only be on goal difference to Huddersfield, but with that goal difference being 15, that’s as good as a point and it leaves our destiny in our hands.
‘We`re out of the bottom three with three games to go but we have still got a lot of work to do.’ Saunders told the Express & Star.
He continued: ‘We have got to try to win all three and then we`re safe. It`s in our hands and if we win the three, the teams below can`t get above us.
“That`s what we have got to aim for now instead of just thinking of getting a win and maybe a draw.”
