With Wolverhampton Wanderers gearing up for a second year back in the Premier League after our impressive seventh-placed finish, fans can also enjoy a return to European competition as we find ourselves in the Europa League.

With confidence and optimism high, especially after our start to the pre-season campaign as we took victory over Manchester City in the Premier League Asia Trophy, whilst some will be more naturally cautious as we go into the 2019/20 campaign, goalkeeper Rui Patricio is expecting fans to have plenty to shout about.

Speaking recently to the Express & Star our 31-year-old Portuguese stopper was in good spirits given his own form in our recent game – with three penalty stops to his name.

“It’s going to be a great season. It will be hard, as every Premier League season is, they are always very well fought. I believe it’s going to be one more excellent season from all of us and we want to give much joy to our supporters. It was a good year for me, but I know that I can do more and be better. So, I must keep working and evolving every day. That’s the most important thing.”

Although it’s been a while since we were last in European action, Patricio was right to point out that given the first team group we have we should be confident ahead of the competition given the quality we have and the European and international experience we already boast.

It’ll be an adjustment and experience for some, but that’s where the more senior players come into play.
