Paul Ince was honoured with a special Lifetime Achievment Tribute at the Wolves Player of The Season Awards last night.
The presentation included video tributes from n former England managers Terry Venables and Graham Taylor, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, former United captain and current Albion boss Bryan Robson and top players past and present such as Ryan Giggs, Jamie Redknapp and Michael Owen.
And he chose last night as the moment to finally unveil his managerial ambitions, and also to throw his full weight of support behind current encumbant Glenn Hoddle, thanking him for extending his playing career.
Speaking after the special video presentation to mark his achievments in the game he said :
‘I didn’t really want this night – I’d rather have gone to the pub to watch the Arsenal game,’ he joked. ‘But seriously it is fantastic to be recognised by your peers, and I am grateful to Wolves for putting the event on for me.
‘I’ve enjoyed every minute of being at this cub, there’s a great bunch of lads here and hopefully we’ll soon be back in the Premiership. I’m also enjoying working with the gaffer, and I think he has helped me by the formation that he plays and recognising that sometimes I need a rest.
‘One day I want to manage this club, but I still have a lot to learn, and I can do that from Glenn. I’ve already done that, not just with Wolves but also with England, and he is the sort of manager I would want to be like.’
