Ryan Bennett will have an uncertain future at Wolverhampton Wanderers when he returns from his loan spell at Leicester City, as Nuno Espirito Santo was willing to sell him for £5m this summer.

Despite featuring semi-regularly throughout the season, Bennett was deemed surplus to requirements by Nuno in January and was subsequently shipped out.

He didn’t feature under Brendan Rodgers, however, so a permanent move to Leicester hangs in the balance. Whether Wolves will welcome Bennett back with open arms is unknown, but a lot of fans from We are Wolves hope so.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Vijay Bagha: “I would actually keep him for another year, but I do expect Leicester to sign him up when this is all over. Been a great player for us in the championship – he helped us get promotion and was the turning point for us in our first year in the (Premier League).”

Ryan Smith: “I’d keep him. I thought he was a solid defender.”

Michael Neylan: “I’d keep him. He did no wrong and he was solid and reliable.”

David Frew: “Yeah keep him for another year. Don’t want the squad getting even smaller.”

Mat Jugernaut Walker: “Keep him. I thought he was very reliable. I thought he played well with (Dendoncker).”

Thomas William Clowes: “Bennett is a defensive hardman. He’s always gonna be first choice backup apart from (Romain) Saiss, (Conor) Coady and (Willy) Boly, (but) he’s a good defender and well worth keeping. (He’s) a part of the success of the Wolves team, statistically he’s got it.”

Graham Fooks: “I think he has been improving and rising in my estimation.”

John Jones: “I want Beno back”

Bhupinder Masaun: “Beno was a solid decent player..gave 100% every time..”

Daniel Dubtrix Walton: “Definitely a good player.”

Manjit Chima: “Solid squad player.”

Doug Carter: “Keep.”

Adam Roberts: “Keep him. Good defender.”

Gary Marshall Wwfc: “Keep.”

Bennett joined Wolves on a free transfer from Norwich City in 2017 and has gone on to make 92 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and making one assist.

The former England U21 international had been a regular up until this season and still featured 19 times in 2019/20. Bennett found himself behind Conor Coady, Willy Boly, Romain Saiss and Leander Dendoncker in the pecking order, however, so he may be considering his options.

Leicester aren’t expected to sign him permanently this summer, so he’ll return to Wolves knowing that he’s low down in Nuno’s estimates.
