Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Real Madrid have been recently tipped to sign Jimenez, but the Mexican international played down such exit talk and instead committed his future to Wolves. Despite the lure of Champions League football with Real, Jimenez would rather stay in the Midlands and help Wolves finish in the top-four.

He said on Facebook Live: “I don’t need to qualify for the Champions League to know I want to stay here. We have done great things as a team: we have qualified for the Europa League and now we are within reach of qualification for the Champions League.

“Playing the Champions League is of course an additional motivation to do your best and want to accomplish great things. My motivation is my family. It’s great to be always with them. Now with the baby on the way, I cannot be happier! This is also motivating me to continue giving my best.”

Jimenex joined Wolves on a permanent deal from Benfica last summer and has gone on to make 44 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 22 goals and making 10 assists. The 28-year-old has been outstanding under Nuno Espirito Santo and is essential for Wolves’ hopes of reaching the Champions League.

As per WhoScored, the Wanderers sit sixth in the Premier League table with 43 points from 29 games and have lost the second-least amount of matches this season. They’ve five points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea with nine games remaining, but it remains to be seen when the campaign will resume due to the Covid-19 postponement.

It’s easy to see why Jimenez would want to stay, as Wolves are on the cusp of making a historic achievement.
