On Vital Wolves we’ve always had a mix of views.

Mick McCarthy’s spell as manager always had the regular users of Vital Wolves torn, 50% appeared to back him, 50% always wanted to sack him.

The only thing we’ve ever appeared to be unanimous over was the shambles that followed McCarthy’s sacking and the embarrassment that was the mid-season search for a new manager that ultimately ended with Connor steering us out of the Premier League with barely a whimper.

Ståle Solbakken’s appointment as Wolves gaffer received a mix response. For many just a new face was enough to bring a positive energy and enthusiasm back. Others pointed towards his lack of experience in English football.

We now head into November and the question regarding the Norwegian’s appointment doesn’t appear to be any closer to being answered. As ever the Wanderers fan base appears to be mixed.

Our very own poll asked by astraltrader has just 28% backing the job achieved so far with 10% sitting on the fence, 47% saying it’s been disappointing while 15% believe we’ve taken a step backwards.

So what does the man in charge think?

“I sense a lot of positivity. But, in saying that, I will never, ever instruct even one fan not to say what they mean, They are entitled to express their concern. At the same time I am quite sure I am the right man to take this club forward – I am very confident of that.’ Solbakken told the Birmingham Mail.

He added: “I am also very aware that at the moment there are anxious fans out there because we are some points short of where we want to be.

“I am sure we could put it right.

Apart from a purple patch in September which saw us put together five wins in six games, lifting Wolves up to third place in the Championship. This season we appear to have struggled to adapt to life back in the Championship.

The players with Premier League experience have to adapt back to a 46 game season, playing games where any team can win on their day.

Whilst the new signings have to adapt to a new country and a new league.

It’s going to be a long process and it’s far too early to tell for me whether or not things will eventually turn out how we want, I just wonder if there could have been safer options than Solbakken?
